AIDA4 Advanced Freediving Course

The AIDA 4 course requires at least AIDA Master Instructor certification, and we are the only dive shop in Western Australia certified to offer the AIDA 4 course in Chinese. When you decide to enroll in the AIDA 4 course, you're taking a step into professional development. The AIDA 4 course is designed to deepen a diver's knowledge and skills beyond recreational diving. This course introduces advanced techniques, safety procedures, and knowledge required for deep diving, preparing students for more challenging underwater environments.

After the course you will achieve:

  1. CWTB constant weight dive: 32-38M

  2. Static breath-hold: 3:30

  3. DYNB dynamic finned: 70m

  4. Theoretical exam pass: 75%

Prerequisites before the course:

  1. Completed AIDA3 or equivalent freediving certification

  2. 18 years and above (or 16 years and above with family member’s signature consent)

  3. Completed a first aid and CPR course within the past two years

Course Schedule

The AIDA4 course familiarizes participants with advanced freediving techniques, including FRC (Free Respiratory Regulator) diving, mouthfill, and packing techniques. These skills will be applied in the following freediving disciplines: static apnea, dynamic apnea, constant weight dives, free dives, and optionally variable weighting. In addition to underwater skills, the course also covers full-body warm-ups, stretching, and specific respiratory muscle exercises. Furthermore, training concepts and dietary guidelines beneficial to freedivers are covered, contributing to a diver's overall development. Packing and unpacking exercises are also included, primarily as a key component of dry training courses. A key component of the course is managing open water equipment. Participants will learn to use proper knotting techniques, set the depth of their dive lines, construct a safe bottom weight with a weight belt and dive weights, and safely handle other additional equipment (such as bottom plates, flashlights, lanyards, etc.). The course also prepares participants for the role of "Assistant Instructor." This new role involves leading warm-up sessions with stretching in confined water and open water, and supervising students of all levels during static or open water sessions.

Day1

Theory Course 1
Location: TBD

Confined Water Session
Location:Claremont/Victoria Park

Confined Water 1 (4 hours x 1 session) Teaching and testing free diving pool-related techniques in the swimming pool. Experience monofin and no fin.

Confined Water 2 (4 hours x 1 session) Learn and develop a carbon dioxide tolerance table, and test it in the pool and on land. The second day's content can be split into two days.

8:30-12:30
Open Water 1, 2 Teaching and Assessment, Theory 2
Location: Rockingham

Open Water 1 and 2 (2 hours x 2 sessions) mainly test AIDA3 rescue and buddy up,  practice and test neutral buoyancy, and improve duck style and rope climbing skills. Our goal in Rockingham is to reach 20 meters.

After the open water session, review the shortcomings of the dive and complete the teaching of Theoretical Lesson 2.

Before the open water course, stretching classes are introduced. Open water 3, 4, reach the target depth, and complete the make-up test if necessary. After the open water course, review the course nearby and conduct theoretical review and examination (2 hours x 1 session) In the afternoon, there will be a class hour of theoretical review, followed by a theoretical examination, and 75% of the answers must be correct. After passing the examination, you will become a globally recognized AIDA3 certified freediver

Q&A

  1. Can I spread out the theoretical lessons? Because of the special nature of the AIDA3 course, you can discuss with your classmates and spread out the lessons.

  2. What can I learn? After four days of learning, I can hold my breath for more than 2 minutes and 45 seconds, and dive to a depth of 24-30 meters*

  3. What if you don't have transportation to the reservoir? The reservoir is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from downtown Perth. We can usually share a car with other friends. If you have enough time, we encourage everyone to spend the night together in a camp near the reservoir. You can go fishing and have a BBQ at night.

  4. What should I prepare in advance: We no longer provide free equipment for AIDA3 courses, but you can choose to rent it, or consider buying your own equipment. You need to master the Franzo ear pressure balance technique before class.

  5. What if you fail the test? If you use the correct Franzoial pressure balance technique in AIDA2, the pass rate of AIDA3 is relatively high.

  6. *Depends on individual learning ability
